This module covers the low pass filtering feature in PicoScope software version 6.2.2.12, explaining how it can be used to remove high frequency noise from a signal to reveal the underlying waveform shape.

Using fuel injector and oxygen sensor waveforms as examples, Tom demonstrates how to activate filtering through the probes menu and select an appropriate cutoff frequency. Key points include:

  • Filtering blocks all frequencies above the selected cutoff (e.g., 50 kHz or 1 kHz)
  • The cutoff frequency can be adjusted while the scope is live, allowing real-time feedback
  • Proper filter selection cleans up noise without losing relevant signal data
