There are two versions of PicoScope 7 Automotive: Stable and Early Access. When the developers work on a new version with bug fixes or new features, they'll push the update to Early Access first. After the software has been in the hands of the early adopters for a good amount of time and any kinks have been worked out, the developers push it to Stable.
Most of our users should use the Stable version. This version of the software has been thoroughly tested by the PicoScope Automotive team (and other PicoScope Automotive users on Early Access), and judged suitable for use in the workshop.
If you like to be an early adopter, or are experiencing an issue fixed in a very recent patch that hasn't made it to Stable yet, you can use Early Access. This gives you the ability to preview the latest features and fixes, and help the developers by reporting any new bugs and preventing them from making it to the Stable version of the software.
While there are PicoScope versions available for Mac and Linux, Autonerdz can only provide support for the Windows versions. Mac and Linux versions can be found here.
While lower specs may work, these are the minimum hardware specifications that Autonerdz reccomends using with your PicoScope:
*We recommend Intel or AMD processors, some users have reported issues with the AMD Ryzen 7 processor.
**Lesser screen resolutions may work, but will make some features inaccessible.
***Some manufacturers may provide USB sockets for data transfer only and may not provide the current necessary to power the PicoScope. USB 2.0 will limit scope performance.
