This module builds on fuel pump current waveform analysis by walking through a variety of real-world case studies — both failed and new pumps — across a range of vehicles. The cases illustrate how waveform characteristics, RPM measurements, and current levels work together to confirm or rule out pump failure, and why this test is often the most efficient first step in fuel delivery diagnosis.

Additional topics covered include:

  • How brush contact patterns differ between side-contact and end-contact pump designs
  • The relationship between load, RPM, and current draw
  • Using burst amp captures with scope triggering to detect mechanical restrictions
  • Simulating deadhead pressure on return-type fuel systems using the vacuum regulator
  • Using AC coupling to zoom in on waveform quality without DC offset interference
  • The importance of building a personal database of known-good waveforms for common vehicles

The module also includes an honest look at a case where the test series failed to catch an intermittent pump failure, providing useful context for the limitations of the method.
