more channels for automotive

just asking if anybody else sees a need for more channels.
as he new vehicles have dohc with sensors for each cam
and when you add crank there is 5 channels, that is if you want a sync with cams and crank.
I wonder if pico will make a 6 or 8 channel automotive scope

Don't know if that will ever happen, but I'll give you a hint for when you need more than four channels on a CMP-CKP capture.  Two words:  Reference Waveforms.  Wink

This question has been aswered in PicoScope forum.

most of the time 4 is plenty but with the new vehicles with
more cam timing sensors it would be nice to sync all
on one timed screen did not mean to beat a dead horse
with this just thinking down the road.

Running two automotive scopes, one with a regular release and one with a beta release it is possible to have eight automotive channels.

The only way they will be truly synched would be something that could be captured by a single trigger for both.

Might be a good reason to pick up one of the new independent ground auto scopes.  Wink

I am not there yet, but I bet I will be soon.  Smiley

I dunno.  If I ever get to the point where I NEED, on a regular basis, more than 4 channels, I'll hope & pray Pico has developed an automotive 8 channel tool.  Otherwise, ATS would get my business, and most of you know how I feel about ATS's use of computer screen real estate.  Sad

John Thorton was running a 8 channel picoscope last weekend at Vision on a live car in class. Someone said it was to retail at $3200.00 and it wasn't out yet.

Hi Mick. He was capturing. He had a new Chrysler and a New Ford with exhaust hoses on them ran outside the building. I didn't get any pictures, but it was damn impressive. I walked in at the very tail end of his class because I left early out of my class.
