Looks like a very capable unit. We have one on order so we can have a play with it.

My main concerns with this for automotive would be the added risk.

It has a 50v max input like the 3000 series, so forgetting the attenuator would likely cause damage as it did with those.

Also, there is no thermal fuse protection so a ground loop error could be fatal to the scope.

As a test and measurement scope....damage from either of these could void any warranty.

Currently, it is supposed to work with the automotive PicoScope but this may not be the case for future automotive PicoScope software. That's no big deal though. The automotive PicoScope provides no real additional functionality anyway.

Based on the responses we are getting, I can see that this IS going to be used for automotive work. At this point, we would be able to supply them on a special order basis. We'll see where it goes from there.... Wink

Things that happen every day in the field using the automotive 4423 PicoScope would kill a 4824 and that sort of damage would be on your dime.

yeah but as you noted an attenuator would take care of that problem

what about specifications and functionality, how does the 4424 compare in that aspect?

You'll lose some functionality when it loses compatibility with the automotive PicoScope. It also won't work with the Pico Diagnostics or NVH. We'll know more when we get hold of one.

The specs look great. You can compare details on the Pico site.

Capital M for Mega Samples MS. 256 million samples.

I may have more to add to this...I have to make sure it's OK to reveal publicly....so stay tuned.
