Forums Upgrade
Nov 10th, 2007 at 8:31am

Soon we will be upgrading The Autonerdz Community Forums from Yabb 2.1 to 2.2.  In spite of the small version number change, this is a major upgrade.  There will be many new features and enhancements as well as improved security.

I know, why fix it if it's not broke?  Well, we have been limping along with some patches and the upgrade will eliminate the need for the patches and make sure the security is several steps ahead of the hackers.  I expect the upgrade to run faster and be more stable.  Plus the added feature set is a big bonus.

When we do this, the forums will go down into maintenance mode and you will not be able to access them during that time.  I will try to keep this down time minimized but it's a somewhat complex procedure (for me anyway) and I don't know how long it will take before I can bring them back on line.

Hopefully there won't be any  Smiley

Wish me luck.   Smiley

Well, I jumped in with both feet and almost went down for the count.  Nothing is as easy as it seems.  I was really freakin'.  The simple upgrade procedure was a total flop.  I had to do a fresh install and restore the data from my backup.  Took me thirteen hours  Tongue

I have tweaked a few things to bring it back the way I thought it should be.  I'm sure there will be a few bugs that will need to be squished.  If you have any issues please post them or email me and I'll look into it.

We may have to go down into maintenance mode a few more times but the forums appear to be pretty functional.

I found myself logging on successfully earlier but, when navigating it went back to maintenance mode. It looks good.

Sorry for the inconvenience, Fisher.  There just isn't any good time to do things like this.   Smiley

Thanks to all for your patience.   Smiley

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the upgrade and your efforts!  Only thing that I've noticed is that I have message from 1969, wasn't born yet Grin.  Every thing seems to be working OK.

Thanks

Hi Tom.

Thus far the forums are working better than ever.
Response time is a lot better.I replied to a thread this morning and loaded very quick without the lag that has been present lately.
Your efforts are always appreciated Tom. Smiley
I would be lost without Autonerdz and it is all your fault. Shocked

Ronnie.
