Dumb Windows question
Aug 12th, 2013 at 9:48pm

When I try to post, a Microsoft Windows popup asks me if I want to allow or not allow this webpage (Auotonerdz) to access my clipboard, etc.
It has the options of yes or no as well as clicking the little x in the top right corner. I shut off the message and the post gets posted regardless. Cool

Hi fisher!
I noticed that too, but only on the laptop at work (windows 7), not the one at home (XP pro). I hit "no"
the first time, "yes" since, not sure what it does either.
Microsoft is annoying as hell, if PICO ran on MAC that's what my next laptop would be. -Ward-

This is because the default check is in the auto copy to clipboard option.

Then you get the permission popup.

It's actually a really good idea to use this option.  You'll learn to do that the first time you type out a long post and then have it fail to post for whatever reason.  Then you lose it all and have to start over from scratch.   Smiley

When you use the copy option, then all you have to do is paste it back instead of composing it all over again.   Wink

From the Windows clipboard.  Right click and choose paste or keyboard ctrl/V.  Your lost text will magically reappear in the message window and you can try posting it again.   Shocked

Cool?    What was I whining about? So it sounds like I help myself if I choose - YES - allow the website to access the clipboard?

OK, so I typed all this crap in a 2nd time (!@#$ windows) then complained about window some more, then hit the preview button after this word.
I then left this thread and came back, this box was blank so I hit CTRL V and all I had typed was back again. If you leave before you post or preview  what's in this box it's gone, if you preview your post and lose it you can get it back.
OK, I get it now.

I have had this happen. It sucks so I suggest leaving the clipboard box checked.
