InMotion Hosting Blows Up Again
Jun 24th, 2013 at 10:12am

This morning the InMotion server that hosts our VPS blew up and dis a lot of damage to the forums files.

As a result of this, all of us here and about a dozen members became unpersons.   Sad

Now that we can access the server again, we are beginning the restoration process.

I was going to have InMotion restore from their backup since it might be more recent, but to my horror, I found out they were not doing the backups I had been paying them to do.  Seems I slightly exceeded my backup space and they quit doing them.  No notice no nothing.

So, I have restored about twenty members that were affected by this disaster using files from my backup from Friday at about 5pm Pacific time.

The individuals affected:

All the admins.
Alan_Tong
Charlie.S.
Dave Harney
JorG
hsaw
Willy
Tom Hardaway
Neal
Fisher
joe nand
Lee Hearnden
emjaybee
rj
tubbs10
Chad Austin

Please let us know if there are any issues.

What happened?

Well, another user on the VPS somehow filled up the storage before getting shut down and the server ran out of space.  YaBB doesn't like that.

I am pretty sure it was the NSA PRISM program...... Smiley

I tried to post this morning two or three times before I read your message about the problem.

And I thought they had these problems resolved with all the infrastructure they had been investing in.  It's been almost a year since this has happened.  I was just beginning to say good things about them...

So...we had one of those Mondays.  Smiley

Does everything seem to be OK for you now fisher?  You got hit the worst.

Cheesy That makes me proud! All is well now. Is our system here part of the 'cloud' technology?

No.  Our cloud (drop site) is on an entirely different server and a different service.  All this here lives on the same server as the Autonerdz.com website.

Good to hear all is right with your profile here.  That means the rest are probably OK too.  Dozens of files had to be painstakingly restored from backup one at a time.   Angry
