Thank you crackerclicker, but I am aware of the extra smilies.

I moved it over here so it doesn’t mess with James compression post.

Some forums have a button to thank the poster without filling up the thread with just smilies and thank you.

A button underneath a post, sort of like a +1, but more touchy-feely if you will. Typically they show the names of the users who "thank" them.

It would be nice to give thanks to those who helped solve or fix problems or answer to important issues/question. That might help motivate users to respond so that they can get some recognition.

I think that is an excellent idea. I already have both 'tags' and a similar 'like' features in mind for one of our next two versions of YaBB (past the one already in testing - 2.5.4), however neither is quite the same as a 'Thanks' button. And I have seen them on other forums...
