Hi Tom and crew.
I keep getting warnings from Windows about how 'Smartscreenfilter' is suspicious about e-mails from Autonerdz. I am given the option of showing the content of the letter. Of course I do. I went to the 'Safety' button and clicked it and there is no option to allow any address. So everytime I get an email from Autonerdz, I have to command 'Safety' to 'show the content'. I have gone through my Junk bin and find that Smartscreen actually does a pretty good job of keeping actual junk mail out of my face.
Too bad I cant put your biz on some favored status list.

Fisher,

You must use webmail?  I don't use webmail.  It's not secure.

Only thing I can think of is that the email had images or links and the smartcreen filter didn't like that.

Hi Fisher, Tom!
My computer at home doesn't do this (email from service supplier, Sasktel), My laptop at work did it today (Hotmail account). I just hit the "show content"
button and moved on.

My contact list only has email addresses and I dont get mail that needs it. Isn't that secure enough? I read one of your previous posts about security. Verizonwireless bills me on Hotmail, as does credit card companies. I am not worrying about security because if they trust it, I trust it.

Nope.

Do a search for webmail hacking.  Directions, how to videos, and software abound to enable anyone with some basic geek skills to do it.

No web mail is secure.  You should never have anything in your address book in a webmail account.

They are easily hacked and then your account is hijacked and spam and viruses are sent to all the contacts in your list.

I get dozens of emails a week from hijacked Hotmail accounts along with those from all other webmail services.  This because a lot of people have me in their webmail contacts and don't realize that their information is not secured on their webmail accounts.

If you want your contacts and email to be secure, you have to use a resident email client on your PC.

This doesn't stop someone from spoofing a spam campaign as if it came from your email, but they will not have your contact list.

So, I can keep my hotmail account but ought use a resident email client to handle it for me? Sounds good, how do I hook up with a resident e-mail client?

Fisher,

I use MS Outlook.

This keeps my contacts and email history safely on my PC.  I also have a spam filter plug in that intelligently learns over time and never deletes anything.
