wild turkey is bourbon. And to me its the best. Its the unique limestone water that makes it so good - and the only place theres water like that is here in KY. Hence being the bourbon capitol of the world
Whiskeys are distilled from a fermented mash of grain (usually corn, rye, barley or wheat) and then aged in oak barrels.
Bourbon is distilled from a mash of grain containing not less than 51 percent corn and is aged four years in new charcoal oak barrels.
so the main difference is that bourbon is mostly corn - making it more like moonshine - and it is distilled in a NEW barrel for a minimum of four years.
whiskey has no minimum age - usually about a year before they pull it.
I prefer my wild turkey 101 bourbon. drink it straight and compare it to other brands and youll see the difference
they call it the 'clint eastwood' of bourbons. Its actually made the old fashioned way instead of with new technology. To me for 20 bucks a fifth - there nothing better. You dont even need chaser its so good.
Makers mark is top of the line as well, but a few more$$$$$
