ok guys i was talking with frank massey who told me about this feature of how you can convert a didgital signal into an analouge representation on screen but he did say it only works on 1 channel ??? Smiley

i'm sure when on his course in the drop down menu where we select ac/dc it was in there as a third option

had alot to take in on the course thought it was in my notes but it aint there maybe i'm just imagining things Undecided

Are you talking about the frequency option? I can't seem to find it but I think you need to be connected to a 4000 seris (mine is at work) to get the option.
And I think it is a third option under AC DC.

Kenny,

Live frequency option on 4000 series only and one channel, yes.

Now you can take that one step further and apply that to one or more channels even after they have been saved.  You can even make RPM measurements.

http://www.autonerdz.com/cgi/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1308802930

Post up your digital MAF capture data file and I will show you a frequency graph.   Wink

don't be scared, make sure your using the attenuator and probe away.

Smiley

Pretty sure you can't do primary patterns as transistor is inside the coil

Give this post a look, there's some good info there on analoge and digital mafs, http://www.autonerdz.com/cgi/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1301063464/15
i know there's plenty of other info on other forum post too, just didn't take the time to find em.

As for the cop captures, there is no way to look at primary, you will need a cop probe to look at the 2ndary wave, other than that, just check you coil inputs, ground, pwr and signal. Then give the projects board a look and make yourself one of brandons coil testers, these things are awesome and will prove out a coil in a matter of seconds. You can make one for under $40 easily.

You could always pm bradonb, maybe he'll be nice enough to build you one or give you a helping hand. This will show you the value in having the full autonerdz support package! (hope you don't mind the suggestion brandon Grin)
