Post by kennyp on Aug 6th, 2011 at 3:01pm
cant seem to find out how to convert the digital maf signal into an analouge one on the pico is it just me thinking this is possible i thought it was in a drop down menu somewhere but cant seem to find it  :-?

and if anyones got any advice as i am about to do a mitsi gdi ign coil inj current  and maf sensor test  :)

ok guys i was talking with frank massey who told me about this feature of how you can convert a didgital signal into an analouge representation on screen but he did say it only works on 1 channel ??? :)

i'm sure when on his course in the drop down menu where we select ac/dc it was in there as a third option

had alot to take in on the course thought it was in my notes but it aint there maybe i'm just imagining things :-/

Are you talking about the frequency option? I can't seem to find it but I think you need to be connected to a 4000 seris (mine is at work) to get the option.
And I think it is a third option under AC DC.

Andy.

Kenny,

Live frequency option on 4000 series only and one channel, yes.

Now you can take that one step further and apply that to one or more channels even after they have been saved.  You can even make RPM measurements.

Post up your digital MAF capture data file and I will show you a frequency graph.   ;)

think i found the problem guys when i was looking for the option i couln't find it though i didn't have my scope connected at the time so think thats why ive only got the a/c-d/c option  :-[

will give it a go when i get to work  :)

anyone know about the coils on these gdi mitsi engines and how to test primary? 3 wire cop coil 1 heavy guage wire and 2 smaller can mesure current on the heavy wire  though is this acurate when they are all on the same feed ? from what i gather its a digital signal to the coils too?? :-/

excuse my dumdness just been on a 2 day course for fuel trim and scope and my head is even more minced than ever  :-/ :-/

dont have any wiring data on this 2000 model 2.4 gdi  so i am going at it blind and have never worked on one before other than cleaning and replacing throttle body's  :) as you do

don't be scared, make sure your using the attenuator and probe away.

[smiley=atomic.gif]

Pretty sure you can't do primary patterns as transistor is inside the coil

not scared mate honest though when on acourse with frank massey he doesent use the attenuators when looking at ign. :o

Give this post a look, there's some good info there on analoge and digital mafs, http://www.autonerdz.com/cgi/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1301063464/15
i know there's plenty of other info on other forum post too, just didn't take the time to find em.

As for the cop captures, there is no way to look at primary, you will need a cop probe to look at the 2ndary wave, other than that, just check you coil inputs, ground, pwr and signal. Then give the projects board a look and make yourself one of brandons coil testers, these things are awesome and will prove out a coil in a matter of seconds. You can make one for under $40 easily.

You could always pm bradonb, maybe he'll be nice enough to build you one or give you a helping hand. This will show you the value in having the full autonerdz support package! (hope you don't mind the suggestion brandon ;D)
