Scot and John did an excellent job on GDI. I have taken GDI classes between the two of them several times and always learn something new every time.
Bernie put an interesting twist on "Understanding Fuel Injection". We think about fuel injection being about fuel. The brilliant mind of Mr. Thompson states the fuel injection is about the AIR! Fuel pressure, fuel volume, fuel injector flow rate are all engineered into the vehicle(KNOWNS). The air flow into the engine is UNKNOWN and must be calculated. He reinforces this by utilizing Volumetric Efficiency. No fancy pants scan tool, no scope. Just take the necessary scan data pids, plug them into a VE calculator, get your answers. (There's more to it than that, just laying down the jist of what he was teaching) "Follow the data. The data doesn't lie."
I like when an instructor makes you go "Hmm, never thought of it that way."
WORLPAC instuctor Drew Wolfe gave a quite an eye opening experience on the "simplicity" of MINI Coopers. From engine design, operation, cooling system woes, superchargers, trannies, evap systems, electronics, etc...
It's amazing how much you loath something until you understand it. Still don't want to work on them though.

Jorge Menchu. What can I say. Amazing. Another instuctor that made me really think differently.
I did not attend any of Scott Shotton's classes at this event. But I'm sure they were very informative as always.
I've attended every CAN Conference since the beginning and I always look forward to the next. The networking was great. I had the pleasure of meeting Peter Meier from MotorAge, Scanner Danner, Harvey Chan.
The vendors were excellent. I was able to pick up a couple of things from AesWave.
I hope to meet some of my fellow Nerdz next year!
Here's a link of Peter Meier doing interviews "live from the floor" during the confernece on Saturday night.
