Looks like we are finally heading in the right direction with finalizing our move to Florida now that everything has settled down around here. It's funny how quickly the man of the house can be overruled, but as it turns out, I'll be driving a friggin U-haul 3,000 miles in a couple months. The quote from the movers was too high for my wife to feel comfortable, and apparently I didn't get my point across that it's actually about the same whether I do it or they do it. Movers quote for everything, U-haul gives you a number based on miles not including fuel, hotels, food, etc.. With a truck rated at 10MPG ( and I'm sure that calculation was UNLOADED and NOT towing a Volvo ), factor in the time it takes and aggravation, I would call it a wash
. OK, enough venting for me.
So the plan is to arrive in Port Saint Lucie ( most likely, but possibly the very near vecinity ) by the middle of June. I'm guesstimating that we leave ( or I should say
I leave ) Portland on June 10, kick the tires and light the fires and make it a 5 to 7 day trip. Much of our savings will be absorbed during the move, and with 2 kids, it's imperative that I find a good home/shop ASAP.
If any of you guys know of or hear anything, I sure would appreciate the info. Thanks in advance.
P.S. My preference would be at an independent because my skills are more aptly harnessed in that environment, but I am open to dealership positions due to the fact that most dealers have good benefits for my family. In a perfect world there is an independent out there with an awesome reputation and affordable benefits within walking distance that allows me to never work a Saturday because the too are die hard Notre Dame fans
