Hello Nerdz,

Its a pleasure to be back and see that you all been busy.

This car is very well take care of is experiencing some jerking and lack of power simptoms - intermittently.

Costumer stated that the car started acting up after  an alignment job. He suspects that someone did something to his car and messed it up.

CEL is off, however there are two History Codes Recorded - P0120 and P0420.

I have to mention that the catalyc converter has been removed from vehicle.

I drove the vehicle with costumer, the car ran good the whole time while he was there. Later on I took the car to pick up some parts and the car started jerking and loosing power and then quit.

Once I got to the shop the car was idling rough so we started gathering data this what we found.

Remember this codes can be the result of the following:

* Vaccum Leak/Faulty PCV
* Maf sensor element contaminated
* Sensor signal shorted to ground
* CKT /Harness problem
* Faulty ECM

Hi Rafael

A tap test is in order But a wiggle test will show a loose connection inside the maf not to be confused with terminal tension as I found out once

Now that Rich has to many tools  Smileybut the best must have been used on another car that day  Smileyhe should have used this one  Smiley tap test at idle

Yes Sir,

Here is a tap test.

But first look at this Failure Data/freeze frame data.

Man you're good.

Here is a capture during a tap test.

Also we monitor power and ground sides of sensor to eliminate of a CKT problem.

Thank you guys for taking the time to reply.

The point Im trying to make is; I know there are lots of techs trying to see which scope to get, the answer is right in front of you.

Driveability problems are no match for PICO scope.

The scope is easy to use and very powerful.

The tool is great and what makes it greater is - TOM and CARL and all of the techs helping each other out.

Thats what makes this site SECOND TO NONE !!!

Rafael,

Thank you for the kind comments and acknowledgment.  Spread the word  Wink

The automotive service industry is a unique marketing challenge that requires a unique approach.  IMHO, a successful approach requires violating most generally accepted marketing principles.  We do things backwards.  Sales takes a back seat to training and support.  The marketing guys just don't get it.  Can't blame them really.  They just don't understand the industry.  You really have to have had a career on the inside to get it.  The value of what we do here at Autonerdz can only be appreciated by a professional technician.

Some may not be aware that we pioneered PicoScope in the automotive industry.  At that time, we were just prophets in the wilderness.  Now everyone is trying to get on the wagon  Wink  This creates some marketplace confusion and more than a little consumer regret resulting from price shopping and poor research.

For the technicians out there looking at adding a PicoScope to their arsenal, I have only one thing to say:

Do your homework.
