lenovo PC doesn't see my 4425 anymore

Pico 4425 not recognized by the computer. Using A Lenovo with windows 10. Pico worked great for about a year, then sometimes, when opening my pico scope, only the demo would come up. I could disconnect & reconnect the USB cable at the scope and it would then show up. This would happen every month or so. Then got to be every 4th or 5th time. Now the computer does not see the scope at all. when I disconnect & reconnect the USB cable from either end the computer beeps, so I know it see's the cable being unplugged. I have tries all 6 usb ports without success. I uninstalled & reinstalled the latest version of pico 6 & pico 7. The scope is still not showing up. It does work on a Dell with windows 10. Any ideas on how to get it working on the Lenovo?

I had some weird things with P6 and P7 with Windows 10 for 3 months.
I tried completely formatting and reloading windows with no good results.
Until a Windows update came through and fixed it, then a moth ago another update would not recognize the current clamps but another recent windows update fixed it.

So the usual question pops up, is it worth updating software if it's running ok??

I recommend trying a different USB cable, a USB 2.0 cable will work for test purposes.

When I came into work this morning, I found  the computer had updated sometime last night. Pico now works. I absolutely hate windows and it's automatic updates. I never update a working program unless forced. Seams like every update breaks something.

Windows just updated and it's virtually killed V6 and V7.

It now won't recognise any probes, program freezes.

Do I send another report to Pico or Microsoft??

First it might be wise to uninstall and reinstall the software. Then if that doesn't fix it submit reports to everyone. Microsoft, Pico, your PC manufacturer.

To be honest its update induce issues like this that make me consider using a virtual machine, some sort of container or possibly even the Linux version of Picoscope.

That is the real question isn't it? Maybe those companies that sell customized outdated computers with their tools are onto something. If the company doing the support controls the entire platform it actually makes the system simpler and more reliable... They control the chips, the operating system, updates, everything.
