Title: Picoscope 7 Automotive software Townhall Post by TrevorSchlientz on Feb 2nd, 2021 at 5:03am
If you are a Picoscope user, this is for you and it could impact your future.
This thread was created for the express purpose of giving all Autonerdz forums members the opportunity to contribute their thoughts and ideas. Pico Technology is developing the Picoscope 7 software for both the Automotive and Test & Measurement divisions. As of the date of this posting the current automotive release is 7.0.64 and it is in open Beta. Pico is actively looking at user feedback in order to help prioritize what bug or feature is the focus of its developers. The more a particular bug is reported, or feature requested the higher it can move up the priority list. Some changes will be delayed until the T&M version of the software catches up to the Automotive. I am told by people from within Pico that the first “stable” release will be coming soon. I invite you to share your thoughts and comments here. Remember to keep your comments professional and constructive. If you have a specific complaint explain it clearly and offer up a minimum of one idea of how to make it better. Criticism without offing ideas of how to make it better is just whining. |

I've been trying to figure out why I'm struggling to see detail in the waveforms in P7 compared to P6.
Besides being squished horizontally, even full screen mode still isn't doing it for me on my Toughbook CF31 Better on my home Surface Pro7 Not sure if these screen shots shows detail but there's a clear difference in the colour especially brown |

I see what you're talking about the PS7 colors have less contrast than the traces in PS6.
I was told in a meeting last week that the ability to change or adjust colors is in a future release. I submitted a suggestion report a while back when the realization hit me that if I'm having trouble discerning things on the screen then someone with any sort of color blindness would find it infuriating. |

Solved my problem by changing the colour to black

My next criticism is these scroll bars are too thin and hard to grab using the track pad on my CF31 Toughbook, can't even try touching the screen (these laptop screens are not smooth and require a lot of pressure unlike a smartphone screen)

I did find a bug today, locking the ruler and I can drag them in pairs across the screen, but when I zoom in and drag them to the next page the time changes

TA398 is a brilliant wand but the scale needs to be higher like a 10v scale.
Trevor can this be another special nerdz special brew add on feature? |

@ autosparky
How did you move the channel controls from the left to the top of the screen? |
Title: Re: Picoscope 7 Automotive software Townhall Post by Grant Baker on Feb 27th, 2021 at 2:15pm
Something in PS6 so far missing in PS7.
PS7 doesn't have the option to save all buffers as an animated gif file. Sent feedback through the official form. Edit: PS7 version: 7.0.66.7682 |

Another thing missing from PS7 that was in PS6.
No way to bring a waveform to the front. Edit: PS7 version: 7.0.66.7682 |

Do you guys like full screen mode?
I thinks it's frustrating not being able to access left side functions Would it work like Google Gmail and collapses and expands? |
Title: Re: Picoscope 7 Automotive software Townhall Post by Logic on Mar 23rd, 2021 at 5:14am
The graphical widow real estate is superior on Picoscope 6.
A pop out menu in Picoscope 7 could sure improve 7 |

I dislike progressive mode so playing around the settings I'm getting strange results, no live readings for the first page then it's still in progressive mode Can someone try my setup? Is there a prize for finding the most bugs? |

I tried to match your settings exactly. Based on the settings the display should still be in block mode where it will wait until a whole screens worth of data is captured and then dump it on the screen all at once. Rinse and repeat. Mine works correctly. In PS6 we had the option to have the program leave the last waveform on the screen while the next one was drawn. Pico hasn't given us that option yet in PS7. I hope it comes around soon. Personally I find it very distracting to see the wiper bar and the old waveform on the screen while the scope is running. If you can reproduce the issue and do video screen capture it might be helpful for Pico engineers. I submitted a few short videos showing my issues a while back. I used OBS Studio. (https://obsproject.com/) Its a free to use screen capture program. The nice part is that you can record your microphone to describe what you're doing and what is happening with the program. |

Pico 6 had some issues like that in the past. At that time Tom suggested we start saving edited files under a different name just in case the program decides not to open the original file ever again. It was a pain at first, but now it seems second nature. |

V7.070 will not find any update software, it just reports "you have latest"
You have to get it from website manually |
