As for a laptop, it's all personal preference as to brand and style but we recommend:

Windows 7 or higher (not S or RT)

2 GHz duo core or equivalent processor

4 gigs of ram minimum and preferably 8.

USB 3.0 is a plus but 2.0 is OK.
