Title: Using a DMM Inductive Pickup with PicoScope?
Post by Stiletto on Oct 30th, 2018 at 4:34pm
Hi all,

New Picoscope 4425 user here from Atlanta GA.  Quick question, I've got an inductive pickup in my tool box that I used with a DMM in the past for RPM readings. I don't use it much anymore, but when I did it worked pretty well. I see it is listed on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/all-sun-EA103-Signal-Pick-up/dp/B015PDXBUW

Any reason why I couldn't use this pickup with my Picoscope just as a trigger source on channel B (to identify a particular cylinder in a parade of voltage spikes on channel A)?  I know that Pico makes an inductive pickup TA032 that's intended to do this. But wondering if this DMM unit might be capable of doing the job just as well, since I already own it.  Anyone try this before? Just thought I'd ask before giving it a shot.
Thanks, John

Hi John,

The inductive pick up you used with your DMM should work fine with your Pico, as long as you can adapt it for the BNC connection on the Pico.

We do have BNC-Banana Adaptors in our store if needed, bottom of the page here:
