Title: OBD 1 cables Post by kwrencher on Sep 14th, 2016 at 8:01am
Looking for OBD 1 adapters to fit a Solus Edge scan tool. Both domestic and import. Thanks

Clarke, have you tried Snap on? I had damaged a cable and adapter on one of my obd leads and snappy was able to get them for me. I usually charge more for obd 1 vehicles because one, harder to work on with limited info and two only a few shops have them anymore with techs experienced enough to diag them ;)

Hi Bob, ya I will rely on Snap On if I can't find elsewhere. We currently do not have a rep right now, so was thinking if anybody is not using anymore, than I could take them off their hands. |

If you check the Snap On catalog and see if the older Modis/Solus OBD 1 adapters are the same I have some extras. I will not have a chance to check and see if the numbers are the same today.
Thanks Sam |

Sam these are the original adapters from my Solus and they go with the cable as shown. I use them with my Edge/ |

That cable # is the DA5
There is also a cig lighter adapter but I never used that as power. The power adapter shown above is the best option. |

Clark do you have the European import package installed in the unit?

Euro software is enabled, however I did not get the cable adapters with the kit. I have them with my Autel scan tool and have yet to use them, so I was't too concerned about not having them, or even if I need them. Mick wrote on Sep 16th, 2016 at 9:04am:
Is the DA5 cable the one that the OBDII DLC uses as well? All the OBD1 ends should just thread onto the DA5 right Mick? They all are that same style connector on the cable end I believe. jarvissamuel wrote on Sep 16th, 2016 at 7:46am:
If we can verify that they will work, which I think they should, we can definitely work something out Sam. Thanks |

The image below shows the cables for OBD1 European imports kwrencher wrote on Sep 16th, 2016 at 6:19pm:
No the DA6 cable has the OBD11 connector permanently attached, you have that one right now make sure I got the #correct it is stamped on the end connector. kwrencher wrote on Sep 16th, 2016 at 6:19pm:
Yes all the OBD1 adapters thread into the DA5 cable most will need the power cable attached as well. |

My solid edge included a cable that sounds like the da6, non removable obd 2 connector. My European kit came with an adapter that plugs into that (basically a female obd 2) that then has the serial cable style connection for all the adapters as shown.
So you might not need to purchase a da5 cable to connect to the pre obd 2 adapters. |

My solus edge is here at home. The cable is da4, it has the fuse in around the pins and a non-removable 16 pin. I will try to get a shot of the adapter tomorrow.

Here is the adapter female dlc to the serial type connection on the pre obd2 connectors.

This looks like it should work, as long as I can keep the tool powered. An older solus pro that I used a few years ago perhaps had a plug in for power on the adapter like this. Maybe this has one too. Anyways, I will check this out. Thanks |
