Title: Touch Screen
Post by gdaddy on Jun 6th, 2015 at 5:58am
Plan to buy a new PC very soon. I read the basic requirements but I was wondering if a touch screen would be of any benefit? Would it be easier to manipulate the screen with "touch" rather than a mouse? Thanks, Mike

I have a Surface Pro and I see no benefit to the touch screen. Unless you don't have a mouse :)

Hi Mike.

Two of my laptops have touch screen. Though nice to have I don't use it much with the Pico software but more with other programs. I would get it with given a choice but wouldn't feel left out if I got one without it.

If your use to touch screen then yes.
I have a old XP tough book that once had Pico and IDS on.
I miss the touch screen immensely

The Pico layout is just too small for fingers, I got to use stylus

i love my lenovo x230 touchscreen with it. works great with tech2win and the pico software, i do find a stylus is a requirement with the pico stuff as the icons are much smaller than the gm software though.

Both my laptops (home and work) have touch screen. I find I rarely use the touch screen when running my
PICO as my fingers are too pudgy to reliably hit the little boxes - I use the pressure pad thingy.
When I use my AutoEnginuity scanner there are places where I can use the touch screen, and places where I can't.
It comes down to if the interface allows - with the scope there are just too many things on the screen for it to be feasible I suspect.
The program for my MegaSquirt fuel injection works nice with the touch screen.
Over all I find the touch screen handy.

The newer BETA added some touch features.  Not something I'd consider a requirement, though.
