Title: Tech looking in the SE Portland area
Post by PRESTON on Jan 11th, 2013 at 10:36pm
I'm looking to help out a shop in need for the next 4 months minimum, with the possibility of another year on top of that if I stay here in Oregon.  I am planning on moving to Florida in June, or July, but finances and a new baby may make that a tad difficult.
My current place of employment has decided to go in a different direction with their business model than what I have been trying to accomplish over the past 3 years.  The shop environment is not one that I enjoy being a part of anymore, so I would like to offer my services where I can.
I realize that 4 months is a very short period of time, and most shops are looking for long term employees for good reason, but, I also know that it is difficult to find those great employees.  It takes time, and I am willing to fill a spot in the interim period for someone who is in need.
If anyone would like to discuss this in length with me, please email me at Prestonkeats@gmail.com, and we can go from there.
  Thank you.

Maybe you should introduce this guy to your old shop so he doesn't dilute your job search  :).

I would feel a little bad about bringing someone into this situation at the moment, but thanks anyway Crack.

Preston,
good luck on your move.
This maybe a stupid question: can you take PICOSCOPE with you or was it the shops?

Thanks man.  With the first week behind me, it feels like a good fit.  I'll probably get some pictures of the shop early next week and post them up here.  It's an amazing shop no doubt!

No Pico yet, I sold mine to the last shop to give me a financial cushion during my job change, new baby soon, and moving to Florida in the summer.  But..., I'm basically freaking the F out without it  :D :D :D.  Thinking of at least getting the lite kit and a couple secondary probes.

That really sucks. You have Modus though. :D not to rub it in but I just bought a Pico signal generator 2205A for home. Its got 2 channels(20V) max though. It was cheap too.under 300.00
Maybe Tom will cuff you a Kit.  ;D

This is going to be a stressful year for you. I'm sure everything will all fall into place. wish you the best :)
I would offer my help but I think that would be imposable being your on the the other side of the freekin earth. I think you will like Florida and beaches but it always tough moving away from you Family.

Well I'm actually a California boy, and my wife is from Florida.  We're moving because we actually want to be close to family.  When we were discussing it she mentioned Florida and I was totally on board.  I have a large family back home ( the Irish Fitzgerald side, of course ), but wanted to try something different.

My wifes aunt and uncle leave here, about 10 minutes drive away, and they have been such a huge help since we have lived here, but other than that there is no family here.  Were about 600 miles from my family and of course a couple thousand from heres.  So this move isn't something we are looking at negatively in any way.  We will miss her aunt and uncle though.  Plus, my older sister just moved with her husband to Boston, and they will be there for a couple years at least.  Maybe when I visit them up there I'll drop you a line.

Sounds good pal. :)

So in the mean time. What are you to do without that Pico. We all know how much you enjoy this stuff.
Do you have any attachments for Pico? I have 2 channels your welcome to borrow until your squared away.

I know you have more important things to worry about.I was just wondering.
