Title: Mercedes W210 E240 1998 runs Lean at 4500 U/Min

Hi,

I have the Car of a friend here.

The Car doesnīt have the Power i would expect.
He also complains about high Fuel Consumption.
When you hit the pedal to the Floor, it takes of
and then at about 4000/4500 U/Min it stumbles
and you can hear that it gets real hard for it.

First fast test : Fluke on the Dash and connect to
the Lambdasensor...
When you push it, Lambda reads about 800mV (rich)
from about 1500-about 4000 then drops to
about 0,xx mV and stays there.
If you let off and come back to 3000 and hit it again,
it again goes to 8xx mV and the same again
at ~ 4000 U/Min. No matter if 2. / 3. or 4. gear.

I unpluged the Mass Air Flow Sensor and repeated.
Same result. Always at about 400-4500 U/min
it goes totaly lean.

Next Test with the Pico - Lambda, MAF and Amps of the Fuelpump....

A Workshop said that it would be the Exaust,
could that be ? Possible ??

Any Ideas / Comments are welcome....

Chris

I got an error message when I tried to open that file.  Said it was unable to open.

What are your channels hooked to?  Looks like lambda sensor, maybe the TPS, and I don't know what the green trace is.

Lambda, MAF and Fuelpump-Amp (20A)

OK, I figured it was either MAF or TPS.  What does the scan data tell you?  Anything of interest, fuel trims maybe.  I feel like this may be more likely solveable with a scanner, but I'll take a close look and see if I catch anything.

Donīt have a Scanner for this Car.
It doesnīt have the normal OBD Connector.
Only the round DB-Connector.
The car was at a Bosch-Dealer and they read the ECU
but found no Faultcodes at all...

It's a 1998 and doesn't have OBDII?  Hmm, then again, I'm used to U.S. stuff.  Bummer.

Nope, MB over here got OBDII after 2000, before that there is only the original DB Connector...:(

Check for back pressure at the sensor or EGR port(if any), and borrow a Star from somebody(shouldn't be that big of a challege to find, a chinese clone will do, and they're about $300 or less now), so you can look at what the ECU is seeing, although to be honest in those years it won't give you much especially with no codes. Also what model is it exactly 210.xxx?
M 112 engine?
