Title: PicoScope Hands On Class
Post by Tom Roberts on Oct 17th, 2008 at 9:09am

We will be having a hands-on PicoScope class in our new facility here on December 6th.

This will be a 6 hour session from 9AM till 3PM on Saturday, December 6th.  We will be having a lecture/demonstration part followed by an on vehicle practice session.  We have two test stations for live vehicle practice.

Class size is limited so be sure to register early.  Bring your laptop and your PicoScope with you, as we will be using them all together in the lecture/demonstration part.

For our Picogroup members, this is a free class.  We will only ask for a small $25 donation to help cover the food and refreshments.  This is just one more benefit of the Autonerdz Picogroup support and training package.

Those who wish to attend this session, who are not Picogroup members, will need to subscribe to the service and join the group.  The cost is $650 annually.  Of course, this will also plug you into all the other benefits of membership and allow you to attend future classes over the year free of charge.  As you know, purchasing an Autonerdz PicoScope package from us, or one of our affiliates in the US and Canada, will enroll you in the Picogroup at no additional charge and will not require annual renewal.

Here is a map from the Guest House Inn which is just off I-5 Exit 101.

Hi Tom,

Which vehicles will be used at the two test stations? The reason for the inquiry was so that the attendees would have some time think about what signals they may want to acquire from them.

One of them will probably be my 97 Intrepid.  Not sure about the other one.  We have a Toyota, a Honda and a Mustang....or we could pull in a student vehicle.  We will have attendees from three states here so there will likely be a rental or two   :o

That will be a nice selection to choose from. Be careful with those rental cars though. They have to work when you guys get done with them. If not, Laura will be there to straighten out the mess and make everything work again.

Tom,
I would like to thank you for putting on this class.  By far the support that you provide is the best.  I would suggest to anyone who has the opportunity to go to one of these classes don't miss the next one.  I don't know when the next class will be but I am already looking forward to attending.

Howard,

I am really glad you made the trip.  It was a pleasure to meet you.

We had one cancellation but everyone showed up.  I had a blast and am also looking forward to the next one.  I think will be in February.  Date will be announced soon.

Totally spaced and forgot to get any pictures   :(

LSD will do that to ya  ::)

Nice presentation, Tom.  ;)

I wasn't quite sure if all of the scopes hooked up would be distorting the signals or not with having so many connected. We found out that it wasn't an issue at all for that class size.

Why not something cheap? Are they going to double as music listeners? If not necessarily so, then something from a blue chip Japanese company can be had for thirty dollars -like Panasonic or Sony. Do Radio Shack.

For all of you, who don’t have a headset for the monthly group meetings; let me recommend the Plantronics model that I’ve been using for about 4 years now.

One nice thing about it is it has a slider switch on the cord so you can kill the microphone.   If you can kill your microphone until you’re ready to talk, it will make a better experience for everyone, in my opinion.
