Title: COP Probe

Here is a new tool offering from PICO. Does anyone have any experience with it? Several were sold on        e-bay by the inventor before Pico started to market them.

Hi
Used it at a recent training course held by Pico in the UK. Worked fine but pricey, the guy who was instructing us pointed out that using the HT pick up and laying the HT part on the COP you could get a signal anyway!
Didn't demo that though and havn`t tried it myself.

Yea, that does work on some
Tom has a post where he uses a tin foio hat
I can't find it right now though

If the coil has the transistor on top like the Gm trucks or Infinity it gets a bit tricky
You can't get a signal there.
You have to get around the side
Near impossible to do on 4.6 and 5.4 Ford trcks
Those guys are hidden way back there
The probe sneaks in without a bunch of trouble
This infinity was done with a COP wand (or probe)
I could not have accessed the coils without it

I don't use it every day but it sure does come in handy sometimes

Hi MWebb:

I am glad you joined autonerdz I know you have alot of good ideas and wanted to tell you that you are more than welcome to join in and play.

Maybe some day I will be as good as you.

Take care and have a good week end. ;)

Hi Mike

and a waveform to go with it since i dont know how to up load two attachments to one post

You can only make one attachment to a post
If I have a couple I use Irfranview and parade them so they attach together

I don't know if that strategy will work with a pic and a file though
I am going to go test it out

Maybe I can also find out how to add a quote properly at the same time

Hi MWebb (Mike is it?)

Interesting stuff this. I have had some good results using a foil pick-up.............

BMW E36 M3 COP

Home made HT pick-up (Idea from Autonerdz :) ).........

I like the idea of seeing all cylinders on screen & the current trace to trigger & identify the cylinders is a nice touch.

I haven’t seen "wood screws" used like that before. Do you use them so that you can quickly connect to various components?

Cheers

Dave

i have some small amount of knowledge but i hope to learn more here , i am but a rookie student.  school is never out , never closed , never ending.

i put the stainless steel deck screws finger tight into the injector connectors and or the Cop coil negative connectors so that i can connect a PRB to them and get a primary spark waveforms pattern in parade form all on one channel . i use the deck screws because the T pins i usually use to make the connection just fall out of those particular connectors.

this is a PRB , with it you can get all the injector waveforms or all the COP primary waveforms in parade on one channel if and only if the COP coil negative is available to be connected to other wise all you can get is the IGT signal from the ECM  .

the waveform shown is for a DIS system in a toyota sienna van  that coil negative can be connected to

Mick

You need to find an online host for your images. Imagshack is one that springs to mind. Once you have uploaded your images, then all you need to do is place a link to that image inside the image tags. Confused  :o  ;D.

I have my own website, so I can upload the images to the server along with all my site images.

Here is an example of what the post should look like when you compose it........

The text that is highlighted in blue is the link (or address) to the image that is stored on a server somwhere (can be anywhere) in cyberspace.

Hope this helps

Dave
