Finally got round to having another go at using the oscilloscope on my 850 Volvo from 1994.
This time getting a waveform for the rpm sensor at idle.The time was set to 2ms and volts per division at 1.2.
Can anyone put an opinion on this,it seems okay but not quite right to my inexperienced eye

arg the dreaded green machine, we stopped using them because our eyes could read the green dot fast enough and our neck got strained from “tennis game” (looking left, right, left etc)

yes pattern looks normal

Excellent,its my first foray into vehicle diagnostics,at a later date if I can get the wife onboard , I will treat myself to a full pico unit,with a few promises of making some cash from using it. ::)

bangshout, you can bye this one but I would like to say the rpm is low. So focus on this thing before taking any decision.
