can someone explain how Pico does a cylinder balance test while only connected across the battery?? how does it work out engine speed?

I am only guessing but thought it may use the AC (diode test) as a frequency and work out the Alternators increase and decrease in revolutions. Hence the relative power produced??

Most likely voltage drop. Max current at starter motor is on compression stroke. So would also be max voltage drop. Differences in voltage drop would indicated differences in compression. Two compression strokes per revolution will give RPM.
