How about the Pico 6000?

Hi Don,

I really don't think we as automotive Techs actually need 350 Mhz of bandwidth. Our signals are much slower in frequency even when you consider high speed CAN. The 4000 series of scopes will allow us to send any automotive signal through the ADC without a problem. The real bonus is the size of the buffer memory. Although the 6403 is at an impressive 1 GS, the 4000 series serves our purpose with its huge 32,000,000 sample point memory. Plus, the 4000 series scopes are 12 bit vertical resolution while the 6000 series are 8 bit scopes. You may want to price out the difference as well.

Fisher,

The 4000 scopes are much better suited to automotive use.  In addition to what Carl mentioned, the max voltage input is 20v instead of the 100v on the 4000.  Plus if you want to use the automotive software, including Pico Diagnostics, you'll need a 4000 (or used 3000) series automotive scope.
