Title: Internet Explorer 8 Post by fisher on May 2nd, 2009 at 6:53pm
IE8 is no longer allowing me to hook up to this site anymore. I am here by Mozilla's Famed Firefox. Woo Hoo!
This is my fault as I tried to use my copy of Windows XP to solve problems I had. I thought it might be like resetting the throttle on a VW. This problem has developed long after the initial debacle. I will have to pay somebody money to fix this. |

Fisher,
As you described in the email......when you log in it shows you as a guest still but also shows you logged in at the bottom but you can't post or anything. This means that the site cookies are being blocked by your PC. |

Oh well... It will be a while before I do get it repaired for an existing problem; a conflict in the Windows software that I caused that is likely responsible, I can in the meantime look for that what allows for cookies from the site. Thanks Tom.

Hi Fisher
I don't know what you've tried so far but have you reset IE ? Go to Tools, options, advanced and hit reset. Also are you using Windows firewall ? If so reset that as well. Reboot and try again. There are known issues with IE8, i had to uninstall it on one of my machines because of a DEP protection error. If the above resets don't work try rolling back to IE7. HTH Dave F |

Thanks Dave. I have since rectified; it healed itself and I am satisfied that it is all good now... it started accepting cookies. My desktop photo (Stonehenge) is now fully seen. It does no longer freeze when trying to access MSN programs and pages other than the homepage. It got a good deal of it's speed back. Yet it is time for a new PC and the next must be compatible with PICO and certain other automotive applications.

G'day guys,
recently had issues logging to picogroup on my son's PC at home. Since recent windows update , it shows I am logged it ,but at the top of the page it says I'm a guest. Change the login field to " until I exit the browser" not the default "6 hours" this allows you to access correctly. don't know if this is common knowledge or useless information. Brad |
Title: Re: Internet Explorer 8 Post by Tom Roberts on Nov 12th, 2009 at 8:30am Brad, This can happen if you are currently logged in from another PC and try to log in elsewhere. It's best to always log out when you are finished. The other thing that can cause this is if there are cookie handling problems on the PC you are using. The login uses cookies and if the PC doesn't accept them, you will be logged in but show as a guest and not be able to access all the areas or post anything. |
