Title: Software differences... Post by joecar on Apr 16th, 2008 at 1:48pm
Hi Tom,
Other than the automotive library/information base, are there any other differences between the Pico 6 and the Pico 6 Automotive software...? I know the Automotive version is what I would want to use, I'm just curious. I'll be buying a quad scope kit from you soon, I just have to sort out my Tax refund. Regards, Joe :) |

Hi Joe,
First, there are hardware differences between the 3000 scopes for automotive and non-automotive. The automotive units have +- 50v range and the standard scopes +- 20v The automotive units also have thermal fuse protection on the inputs. The standard scopes will not work with the automotive software but support PicoLog software. The automotive units do not support PicoLog. I have not tried to use the standard Pico 6 with an automotive scope in some time so I don't know if it would work. If it did, you would probably lack the +- 50v range and also the two longest time bases. Of course the automotive menu would also be gone. I can't think of any reason to use the standard software with the automotive hardware. The built in automotive custom probe settings would also be missing in the standard software. So, if you get an automotive 3000 series scope you would only gain capabilities using the automotive software anyway. I look forward to having you in our Picogroup :) Don't forget prices go up May 1st. ;) |
