Hello fellow Picotechs,
Many of us like to set up our own range to compensate for attenuation. I'm probably the most guilty. :-) Ok, I admit it, I'm the "Lone Custom Ranger". Now that we have that out of the way, let's move on.
DECIMAL POINTS FOR CUSTOM RANGES
We can't use them. But what we can do is change our method to get the same results. Let's say you want to create a custom range of -.5A to 1A. You cannot enter your scaling like this:
-.50 -.5
100 1
PicoScope will not recognize decimal points.
Since -.5A is the same as -500mA, and "500" is a whole number, we can make it happen. With your low current probe set in the "1mV/10mA" position, scale your range like this:
-50 -500
100 1000
In units, place mV in that box. Min value should be -500 and max should be 1000. Save settings and now you have a custom range shown in milliamps on your screen.
WHICH SETTING SHOULD I USE ON MY LOW CURRENT PROBE?
Use the 1mV/10mA for current up to 20 Amps. From 20A to 60A, use the 1mV/100mA setting.
Regards,
Carl
