Pico Scope with stop / go button switching rapidly

I was doing a cam vs. crank sensor pattern for a 1997 Dodge Intrepid with a 3.5 liter V-6 today to see if the timing belt had jumped. Everything was looking normal except when I went to get back into the Pico after looking for a normal pattern to compare what I was seeing to. When I got back into the scope and wanted to see this pattern again, I could see the stop / go button on the lower left side of the screen switching at a very rapid rate that I had no control over. I checked that both leads were properly grounded, which they were, and that power and ground were also properly connected, which they were. I disconnected the Pico from power and ground and did a cold reboot of the computer. When the Pico was reconnected to power and ground after rebooting my PC, the stop / go button could still be seen switching very rapidly.
Has anyone else seen this or is mine just doing something weird? Any ideas on what this is and what could be causing it would be greatly appreciated. The PC host is a 600MHz Pentium III with 384 megabytes SDRam and a 19" Viewsonic flat display monitor I put together about 3 years ago.
