The Autonerdz PicoScope Support and Training System

• Toll Free Phone Support. No please hold hell or circular phone trees. Calls are

usually answered the same day.

• Group Therapy With The Picotologist Sessions. These monthly live voice enabled

internet sessions enable users to interact with each other exchanging files as

well as helpful tips and techniques.

• Email Support. This is often a great way to get your issue resolved. I can’t see

what your doing on the phone but sending me your psd file allows me to see exactly

what you are doing and helps me to give more exacting suggestions.

• The PicoScope Tips Article. This comprehensive article covers many of the frequently

asked questions and turbo charges your launch with the PicoScope.

• The Autonerdz PicoScope Users Email Group. This email list serve connects you

with our users world wide and enables you to share files and offer tips or get help

from the group. This is a great enhancement for your PicoScope experience.

• The Autonerdz Community Forums. Access to the PicoScope Users section of

the Autonerdz Community Forums.  Now including a library of web delivered Flash tutorial

movies.  Also supplied on CD.

None of this is meant to replace the fine direct Pico Technology factory support. This package is meant to enhance your PicoScope experience. None of us has all the answers and some issues require factory support. Also, I reserve the right to go on vacation :-)

This package is $650 annually, when purchased separately; but is included at no charge with each kit purchased from Autonerdz..  Unlike the support subscription when purchased separately, the support package that comes with a kit purchase from Autonerdz does not expire as long as you own the equipment.

This CD, included with each kit purchased, has the latest software plus a library of tutorial movies including

Automotive Software

Added Automotive features

PicoScope oscilloscope software has been popular with automotive users since its launch, its ease of use, automated measurements and the ability to save & print waveforms have all added to its appeal.  You can load this up on multiple machines and future updates are free.

For the automotive kit an extra drop down menu has been added to the original software. The Automotive menu contains a list of the different sensors and circuits that can be tested with the Pico Automotive Diagnostic Kit. When the subject of interest has been selected the PicoScope software will automatically do a number of things:

Two Pin Breakout Lead

TA012 2-pin Automotive Break out lead

The TA012 break out lead allows for easy connection to many of the sensors and actuators around the engine bay. The break out lead is simply connected into the existing cable loom, the output signal can then be taken from the two 4mm banana plugs into the ADC-212 using the TA000.

As well as measuring voltage signals, the unique design also allows current to be measured with a current clamp. This makes it possible to simultaneously view both the current waveform and voltage waveform of components such as fuel injectors.

Low Current Probe

PP264 60A DC Current Clamp

The PP264 is a 10mA to 60A current clamp, ideal for use with the ADC-212 for measuring the current drawn by smaller devices, such as fuel injectors & fuel pumps.  It has internal nickel shielding and a long BNC shielded cable for superior noise rejection.

Acu-Probes

Acupuncture probes

First and foremost the TA008 is a back pinning probe. In fact, its the smallest diameter back pinning probe that we know of. This is essential for probing today's small, fragile connector. It is also very sharp, so it slides past connector seals with ease. This product solves most of the problems associated with traditional back-pinning methods.

Secondly, the TA008 is a piercing probe. It's small diameter, extra sharp pin makes it ideal for piercing the insulation on small gauge wires where traditional piercing tools might cause damage.

Probes And Clamps

20:1 attenuator

One for each channel

PP198 20:1 attenuator

The PP198 has been designed to safely measure high voltage inductive signals such as fuel injector and primary ignition waveforms.

High Current Clamp

PP266 600A AC/DC Current Clamp

The PP266 is a 600A current clamp, ideal for use with the ADC-212 for displaying starter current waveforms, charging currents and for performing relative compression tests.  It has internal nickel shielding and a long BNC shielded cable for superior noise rejection.

Secondary Pickups

One for each channel

PP178 Secondary Ignition Pickup

The PP178 is a capacitive secondary ignition pickup, which simply connects around the insulation of an ignition circuit component such as a plug wire.   This avoids the need for direct connection to these high voltage signals.

The PP178 comes with a shielded 2.5m (100 inch) lead. It is suitable for use with conventional ignition systems and most HEI and DIS systems.

3m shielded test lead

One for each channel

TA000 Automotive Test Lead

The TA000 test lead has been custom made for automotive use with the ADC-212. Its long length (3 meters / approx 10 ft) allows the oscilloscope to be placed on the workbench away from the car being tested / repaired. A wide range of probes, clips and gators can be plugged into the 4mm connectors at the end of the cable.

The cable is fully shielded to reduce noise pickup. To prevent cables getting tangled, the two wires leading to the 4mm connectors are of different lengths, the short negative lead is intended for easy connection to a convenient ground point (eg the battery), the much longer positive lead allows easy access around the engine bay.

Fuse Extension Lead Set

Fuse extension leads are quick and easy to use: simply remove the fuse (of the circuit you wish to test) from your fusebox and replace it with a fuse extension lead. Now insert the fuse into the extension lead. To measure the current drawn, just connect your Pico current clamp to the extension lead.

A set of 2 fuse extension leads are supplied, allowing you to use the leads with both ATC and mini-ATC style fuses.

These are really nicely made, after all, that are from Pico.

‘S’ Hook

This small but essential accessory makes it easy to keep all those test leads tidy in the engine bay.

The S-hook is about 100 mm (4 in) long and coated in plastic and rubber to protect the vehicle's paintwork and your cables. Hook one end underneath the bonnet or hood, and use the other end to hang a bundle of cables up to about 25 mm (1 in) thick.
