1998 ford windstar imrc solenoids
Sep 9th, 2004 at 3:07pm

I just had to replace two of my Ford's IMRC solenoids and I was wondering if they were in the proper price range.

I payed $685. for the whole job $223.96 for each solenoids and 180 for labor.

If anyone can let me know if I got Jobbed please let me know I had the work done by a Ford dealer and I'm willing to go back and raise a stink if I got ripped off.

Thanks.

for what it's worth. Chiltons book for 95--98 windstar page 4-36 shows one imrc (intake manifold runner control) solenoid, but two imrc vacume actuators. Maybe thats what you had done.
One of mine was cracked & wouldn't close. After checking ford's price (about what you paid)I disconnected & pluged the vacume line & hay wired the actuator closed. My van has been running fine for 2 or 3 years since then. I think its the modern day equilivent of a heat riser & since there are 2, I've been getting by fine with just one. The check engine light has been on ever since, but I've still got $300 to $400 in my pocket.

I realize this is a five year old topic but I believe it is still relevant since this thread has been read 1581 times and my 98 windstar just had these codes come up. This videos does a great job explaining what imrc is and showing how how to fix it.

Just in case that link doesn't work the video title "Windstar MIRC Codes" by Real fixes real fast.

I am not affiliated in any way nor am I promoting that channel that channel I just think it is a great video that can help anyone not in know.

Hi Madaxeman,

I just replaced a pair of those on the same engine the day before yesterday. We listed each IMRC actuator at 325.00 and labor was 2 hours.

I believe the price you got was very fair.
